Lanolin Rich Core wool/ Super Fast Felting Wool / Wool Batting

from £2.00

Lanolin-Rich Core Wool is simply one of the fastest felting wools you’ll find! This wool has been cold-water washed to retain the Lanolin within the wool, resulting in a fibre that not only felts together quickly but also shapes beautifully. It makes a fantastic core wool and is also a great armature wool too (it will save you so much time)!

We don’t usually recommend Merino as a Core wool, but the retention of the Lanolin in the wool changes everything and makes it a very fast/ stable felting wool.

NB: This wool contains Lanolin! If you are allergic to Lanolin, we recommend our Carded Faster Felting Core Wool as an alternative.

Medium to Fine South German Merino, 24 micron.

  • This wool has been carded and comes in the form of wool batting (like a big, fluffy pillow that can be separated into strips or peeled into layers)

  • Excellent as a Core wool

  • Superb for wrapping armatures - use thin strips for the best results; it grip wire easily and even clings to bare wire

  • Cold-water washed to retain the Lanolin -may feel slightly waxy and carry a gentle “sheepy” fragrance (part of its natural charm!). Please note: cats and dogs may be attracted to it, so store securely

  • Perfect for beginners

  • Requires very little stabbing; we recommend medium to fine needles, as coarser needles may over-felt the wool

  • may contain some vegetable matter - as this is a core wool, most of it will be hidden inside your sculpture

  • suitable for needle felting, wet felting and spinning (for advanced spinners only)

Available in 4 weights:

  • Sample - contains 6 to 10 grams of wool

  • 100 grams

  • 250 grams

  • 1kg (please allow 2-3 weeks processing time for this size - may be shipped in two separate parcels. Feel free to contact us with any questions)

Please note: this wool may contain some vegetable matter (VM). It’s usually easy to pick out from the surface, but most can be ignored when used as a Core wool, as it will be hidden within the sculpture.
